Contes Dorés is a theatrical production which combines two wonderfully magical fairy tales from the French-speaking world: 'Petit Jean et le Cheval Blanc', from Canada, is about a boy and the witch who wants to imprison him; 'Les Trois Pommes Dorées', from France, tells of a sick princess who must eat three golden apples to get well.
The storytelling style is very physical and uses live action, puppetry, shadow play and very catchy songs
Explores themes of adventure, travelling and triumph in the face of danger
Incorporates simple French vocabulary including: numbers, colours, family, days of the week, animals etc
A resources materials pack which includes a synopsis, music and lyrics, as well as a range of activities, will be available before the show to enable teachers to prepare their pupils so that they gain maximum benefit from the performance
Contes Dorés is designed specifically to be performed in school halls and NOT on a stage
- The hall/performance space should be a minimum size of 16m x 14m with curtains or blinds for windows
'The workshop was great - enthusiastically delivered and the performance was outstanding. The children loved it and wouldn't stop talking about it especially the comedy and how much they felt they understood.'
